Ms. Chakraborty’s research interest includes middle class, developmental studies, feminism, research methods in social sciences and philosophy. Presently she is a Doctoral research Candidate at Zakir Husain Centre for Educational Studies, School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Her research is based on Educational choice and investments among the middle classes in Guwahati city on Secondary Education. She has knowledge of both rural and urban studies in education and related field.

Her academic background has been interdisciplinary. She did M.Phil in Sociology of Education and M.A in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.Her undergrad was in Bachelor of Sciences with Mathematics major and did Senior Secondary in sciences. Her deep interest in social sciences led her to undertake Sociology in her master level programme. She has extensive research experience in School education through work experience with NUEPA and with other organizations on projects funded by DFID, UNICEF and World Bank in previous 9 years. She has published research article in the reputed national and international journals.
