This study encompasses different aspects related to propensity, pattern, vulnerability and awareness related to internet usage. As we move forward we can see that this study is divided into different subsections based on different but, not completely independent themes.

The Patterns of Internet Behaviour-From the Perspective of the Younger Generation

The predominance of overt affinity towards internet use by young adults and teenagers has been a concern for the concerned individuals. We have conducted multiple studies to understand this impact. Parents of the young people were the respondents in those studies, where they aired their observations about the cyber behaviour of their children. But it  is  important  to  gauge  the  perception  of  the  younger generation about their internet behaviour. In the light of this idea, we decided to study the behaviour and opinion of the members of the younger generation about their internet behaviour.

Across the globe, there has been a phenomenal expansion in the use of Information and Communication Technologies.  The increasing number of people having personal computers, laptops, or android phones and easy access to the internet has reshaped the digital lives of millions of people.  Among other technological innovations, internet use is spreading rapidly in daily life. Since the internet has infiltrated our daily lives, millions of people have started using the internet for multiple purposes. The emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic has increased and expanded the internet engagement of the people in their lives.

The phenomenal expansion in the use of Information and Communication Technologies has ushered a plethora of changes in our daily lives. A never-increasing number of people having personal computers, laptops, or android phones and easy access to the internet has reshaped the digital lives of millions of people.  

Circulation of Fake News through Social Media amid pandemic

A survey was conducted on COVID-19 and Fake News in the month of May 2020 by IGPP & SMM. A total of 3752 questionnaire were filled in English and Hindi medium across India. Most of the respondents were from Delhi (15.09%), Uttar Pradesh (9.54%), and Maharashtra (9.04%) followed by Rajasthan (7.76%), Tamil Nadu (6.16%), Haryana (5.52%), and also significant participation were from Kerala (4.74%), West Bengal (4.61%), Madhya Pradesh (3.94%), and Karnataka (3.84%). The largest age-group of this survey lies among 18 to 25 (2766 respondents) followed by the age-group 25 to 35 having 565 respondents. In terms of gender composition, it has 55.92% male and 44% female along with the very few i.e. 0.08% beyond the gender binary (Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3 and Table 1).
